BYME Delivers Further Renovation Projects for the Hong Kong Jockey Club

In 2014, BYME continued to support the Hong Kong Jockey Club in renovating and transforming its racecourse facilities and club venues.,

Since 2011, BYME has been the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s term contractor for E&M installations at both Happy Valley and Sha Tin Racecourses. In 2014, we have successfully delivered the major renovation projects presented below.

Sha Tin Racecourse Grandstand – Young Members Box and Paddock Restaurant

The newly renovated Young Members Box and Paddock Restaurant provide comfortable and modern venues for members’ social and business gatherings, dining and betting. BYME was in charge of the full E&M package installation for these venues which had to be delivered within a very short period of 50 days during the off-racing season. BYME managed to execute the works to the client’s satisfaction, within schedule and without any disruption to the on-going operations of the club.

Construction Period: 7 Jul 14 to 25 Aug 14 (50 days)

Architect: Aedas

Designer: YEO Studio

Scope of work: Full E&M package

Gross floor area: 1600m2 for Young Members Box and 2300m2 for Paddock Restaurant

Sha Tin Racecourse Grandstand – Air-Conditioning Infrastructure Upgrade Phase 4a

The AC Infrastructure Upgrade Phase 4a project consisted in the design, supply, installation, modification, testing and commissioning of the entire air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and Building Management System (BMS) installation for the New Energy Centre and Chiller Plant for Grandstand I & II at Sha Tin Racecourse.

Two sets of 1,000 tons water-cooled chillers were installed together with the associated pumps, etc. One of the critical point was the installation of most of the equipment at roof level. Architectural and structural works, dismantling of existing installations, diversion, alteration and modification of existing services had to be well planned not to disrupt the ongoing operations. Material delivery and working at roof level called for detailed method statements for heavy lifting, temporary support systems and platforms, etc.

Construction Period: 6 December 13 to 15 Aug 14

Architect: Aedas

Designer: Parsons Brinckerhoff

Scope of work: Full E&M package + Steel Structure Works
