Virtus LON1 - BYES

Virtus LON1 - BYES

London, United Kingdom

4 weeks ahead of schedule

Virtus LON1 (Enfield) is a purpose built data centre designed and built to comply with enhanced Tier III specifications. BYME’s sister company BYES (Bouygues Energies & Services) was appointed as the main contractor and MEP specialist contractor for phases 1 and 2 which feature 24,492 ft² of IT space and a design PUE rating of less than 1.5. Since going live in March 20111, LON1 has a 100% uptime record with no service affecting events.
The data centre is designed around delivering eight stand-alone customer premises with an average power density of 1.5 kW per square meter. The power and cooling infrastructures are designed to support the most demanding mission critical applications. The facility is served by resilient 8 MW 11kV diverse feeds from the UK National Grid.
Keeping in mind the customer's high-level security and resilience needs, the facility incorporates many industry-leading features including a centralised N+N in line UPS plant, a centralised N+1 HV standby diesel generator with 72-hour run time at full load, N+1 CRAC units within each data hall with A&B UPS supplies (10-minute autonomy at full load), and associated advanced alarms and monitoring systems.
Commitment to planning

The second phase of Virtus LON1 was delivered four weeks ahead of schedule. The Virtus management spokesperson said: “Bouygues has demonstrated a good understanding of our needs, and the ability to deliver the project while maintaining service quality for data centre clients".
